BROWN BECOMES 2-TIME CHAMPION

Kaidon Brown became a 2-time Australian Speedcar Champion after winning the championship final at Murray Bridge Speedway on Saturday night.

After 2 thrilling nights of racing, Brown would start off of the second row, behind pole sitters Harry Stewart (QLD) and Brad Mosen (NZ). The finale would finally get underway on the 3rd attempt after requiring two restarts, seeing Rusty Whittaker (QLD) exit the race early on. Stewart and Mosen would trade places on the opening lap, before another stoppage 2 laps later involving Tom Payet (WA).

The next restart was a little shaky, before the field settled into the racing groove.Mosen would continue to lead, before being challenged and passed by both Stewart and Brown within the space of a few laps. Hayden Williams (NZ) would also move up into third before another incident involving Kaleb Currie (NZ).

Nick Parker (VIC) would begin to mount his challenge for the top placings on the restart, with Stewart continuing to lead ahead of Brown and Williams. The race would almost get to the halfway mark, before another stoppage with Zoe Pearce taking a tumble in turns 3 & 4. Stewart would run high and take a ride along the fence on the restart, allowing Brown to glide past into the lead.

After starting further back, Jack McCarthy (SA) had made his way up into fifth, and would join the battle for the minor placings between Williams, Stewart, Mosen and Parker. Brown looked comfortable out front, opening up a handy lead, with Williams settling into second ahead of Parker and McCarthy. Early leader Stewart would then lose a wheel, resulting in another stoppage with just 12 laps to go.

Brown would again race clear on the restart, followed by Williams, with the battle continuing for third between McCarthy and Parker, with pressure also coming from Caleb Mills (VIC).Another stray wheel, this time from Garth Thompson (NT) would see the red lights come on again, and with time constraints coming into the play, the difficult decision was made for the race to be declared. This would take nothing away from the new Australian champ, with a jubilant Kaidon Brown wasting no time heading to the scales to make the win official, and see him clinch his second Speedcar Title.

Fittingly, Brown also won his first championship at Murray Bridge Speedway when the venue last hosted the event in the 2017/2018 season.Williams would place second, with Parker third and McCarthy fourth, being the order at the time of the final stoppage.
