Online voting for this season’s proposed rule changes is now open for registered Speedcars Australia car owners. There are seven (7) proposed changes this season, so please take a few minutes to read through the submissions and cast your votes. Voting can be completed on a PC/laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
Unique voting links are currently being sent to your registered email address via JotForm. Each survey link can be used only once. Owners with multiple registered cars will receive multiple emails with different links—please ensure you submit votes for each. If you don’t receive an email, please check your spam/junk folder before reaching out.
You can abstain from voting on any item if you choose, and there is a comment box at the end for any free-text feedback. Comments will be taken to the Speedcars Australia AGM to consider when final rulebook wording is being finalised. Photos have been added where provided by the submitter.
Summary of rule change submissions:
• Proposed change to the Maximum Displacement Forced Induction limits (HMO Hyundai) - Rule 6.1.4. Aimed at providing a lower-cost, reliable engine alternative and reducing barriers to entry.
• Trial of 2.2L multi-valve forced induction production engines: Proposes allowing stock production 2.2L multi-valve forced induction engines (methanol conversion only) under a two-year trial with a 400hp cap, to provide a more affordable option; includes enforceability measures such as a claim rule and dyno testing.
• National champion/placegetter numbering (Section 6.20): Proposes allowing the Australian Champion and the two placegetters to display Australia 1, 2, and 3 on their cars for the period the title is held, improving recognition and promotion when the A1 car is not racing in Australia.
• Australian Championship heat draws (Rule 7.8.1): Proposes removing state-based seeding requirements and moving to a pure marble draw at the Calcutta for a more modern, luck-of-the-draw approach.
• Right rear control tyre (from season 2027/28): Proposes a national right rear control tyre rule allowing either Hoosier SP3 or American Racer SD48 to reduce costs, with a delayed start to allow stock run-down and importer lead time. NOTE: As many will remember, a tyre rule was submitted and voted on last season; however, the submitter subsequently noted that the compounds selected had inadvertently created a disparity between the two available brands. This season’s proposal is intended to address that issue by specifying two compounds they believe to be comparable.
• No clashes with nominated blue-ribbon events: Proposes formalising a small set of national calendar weekends (including the existing Australian Title week plus one nominated blue-ribbon event per state) that other states must avoid clashing with, to protect car counts, prizemoney, and promotability.
• Ban axle-mounted wheel balancers: Proposes banning axle-mounted wheel balancers (e.g., CRW/Keizer/BP Fab) as an unnecessary cost item.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: Due to a number of changes made by Speedway Australia to their Racing Rules and Regulations this season, there have been knock-on impacts to the way we compete. Speedcars Australia will work on identifying all impacting changes for correction in the Speedway Australia Rules and Regulations, and as necessary bring some racing rules back into our own Racing Manual for season 26/27.
VOTING CLOSES:
Midnight 31 March 2026. Voting links will not work after this time.
